Clifford Frith b.1924

A well executed portrait probably painted in the early 1850's by one of Australia's leading artists. Clifford Frith was born in London in 1924 where he studied at the Camberwell and St. Martin's School of Art. He emigrated to Australia in 1977.

Over the past fifty years he has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Australia, Canada and the UK. He is principally known for his sculptures and has received many public commissions. However, he was no slouch with a brush being a finalist in the Doug Moran Portrait Prize for his portrait of Robyn Archer.

Clifford Frith's work is featured in numerous public, corporate and private collections nationally and internationally including the Tate Gallery, London; South London Gallery; Hull Art Gallery; Tel Aviv Art Gallery, Israel; Contemporary Art Society, London; Sussex University; United National Gallery of Australia; Art Gallery of South Australia; Parliament House, Canberra; Fliners University of South Australia; Adelaide Festival Centre; South Australian College of Advanced Education and Adelaide University.
